TRICKS AND TECHNIQUES FOR YOUR INVERTED POSES
|
The inverted postures of yoga are some of the most beneficial yet intimidating of the asanas. Inversions should be a key component of your yoga practice. They stimulate the endocrinal system; boost the memory; and sharpen, calm and focus the mind. It is common scientific knowledge that blood transports oxygen and fuel to the brain - but research has shown that practicing inversions improves blood circulation, influences nerve function, and helps to regulate information passing through the brain. You will be introduced to and practice postures such as headstand, shoulderstand, forearm stand, handstand, and more. You will be guided through alignment, technique, proper modifications, and be given tools to strengthen the wrists and open the shoulders. You will also learn how to tap into the power of your core strength using the Bhanda’s (muscle contraction or energy locks).
We will close this workshop with a few yummy restorative and yin poses. |

*This workshop is appropriate with students with a regular practice who wish to deepen their
inversions AND for those consistent practitioners who are new to inversions and wish to learn the
variations to the full poses and still reap their benefits.
